Tabletops, seats and electrical connections need to work as a system. The project team needs to know which options fit together and which changes require a review.
More lengths, table shapes, bases and connection boxes in a catalogue do not necessarily make selection easier. Options may exist separately but require particular combinations. Clients need a version that can be carried through samples, drawings and the project site.
HON's official Preside range presents several meeting table forms and configuration directions. These provide a starting point for discussing dependencies between options: which can be chosen directly, which changes trigger a review and which belong in a project-specific discussion.

Distinguish three kinds of option.
Some options mainly affect appearance, some change the relationship during use, and some concern structure or specialist systems. Presenting them as identical buttons can imply that their effects are the same. Configuration information should explain the consequences of a change alongside its name and price.
Choosing a colour within an established finish range is different from adding a connection box or changing table length. The latter can affect openings, supports, joints, cables and seats. Coordinate those relationships in the product and project information before fixing the final appearance.
- Key point 01Confirmed combinations
Match each combination to identified products, accessories and versions, retaining its applicable conditions.
- Key point 02Changes for discussion
Discuss the direction, identify the affected areas and add the sample or specialist checks it needs.
- Key point 03Choices outside the supported range
Establish compatibility before combining options listed separately in a catalogue.

Begin with the activity to clarify the table configuration.
If a client is preparing a room mainly for in-person discussion with remote meeting support, first understand actual participant numbers, conversation directions, equipment and building connections. Then compare table shapes. This establishes the version for use before choosing its appearance within the applicable range.
Two activities may need different configurations. If remote meetings call for a clearer screen orientation while daily conversations favour facing one another, draw both states. Review how a multifunctional arrangement handles each activity and any conflicts between them.
The first discussion can begin with room photographs, the main activities, intended equipment and open questions. As specialist conditions become clear, they provide a more precise foundation for configuration.

Review the whole configuration when a table gets longer.
A change in length can bring new supports, tabletop sections and connection positions. More participants may also change equipment coverage and seat orientation. A configuration system should show these dependencies so they are addressed in the same discussion by the quotation, visualisation and installation teams.
Ask which supports remain, who the new connection serves, where cables enter, and how sections align with the surface grain. Organise the changes around these junctions so supports, connections and tabletop sections work together in one version.
Keep the conditions for a project-specific change with its record. Record specialist configurations separately from standard range options to support later selection and repeat delivery.

Describe the electrical module beyond a power outlet.
Similar-looking connection boxes may differ in standards, purposes and intended markets. Equipment and site supply conditions also affect selection. Coordinate electrical design, installation and compliance with the responsible specialists and the specific project requirements.
The furniture team should identify the openings, installation, cable route and maintenance arrangements for the module, noting the version being discussed. If replacement changes a cover or base, review the affected areas together with the component schedule.
A configuration preview helps compare the top, supports and equipment. Record connections, equipment requirements and maintenance routes alongside it so appearance choices connect clearly with operating arrangements.

Finish selection with one checkable version.
The quotation, sample, drawings and production preparation should all refer to the same configuration. Identify the chosen table shape, supports, connections and materials; distinguish standard elements from project changes and record the basis for confirming each.
Keep later changes traceable as well. Replacing an equipment module should bring the opening drawing and configuration schedule into the same current version. Identify affected parts and ask the relevant teams to confirm them so installation can follow accurate information.
A useful configuration platform reduces selection errors through clear combination rules and a route for project-specific configurations. These help clients find suitable product relationships and leave them with a clear arrangement for use and confirmation.
The level of detail can grow as the project develops, while every stage refers to the same configuration. Begin with activities and concepts, review junctions through samples, and finish with an accurately recorded version. Build the information through the discussion and carry it through to production preparation.
PRACTICAL CHECKLIST
Bring these questions to the table.
Use these points to discuss product selection, configurations and the requirements of your project.
- 01Purpose and participants
Describe the main meeting states and actual participant numbers separately.
- 02Equipment and market
Record the equipment, required connections and site conditions for specialist confirmation.
- 03Combination rules
Identify compatible choices and changes that trigger a configuration review.
- 04Final version
Make the sample, drawings and configuration records refer to the same version.
